Health was never the absence of disease. That is the lie we were sold, so the wreckage could be billed.
Here is the original, reclaimed: health is what your body does when you finally give it its ground back. Light. Water. Real food. Movement. Rest. The people you love. The body already knows how to heal. The only job is to give it the ground, and then live the life that grows from there.
This is the first record of my health that I chose. Every other one was written about me, without asking. Now you go.
In 1948 the World Health Organization called health "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." Then the system abandoned that definition, because you cannot bill complete well-being. You can only bill disease. So health got narrowed to "your labs are in range." That is not health. That is a body that has not been diagnosed yet.
The best medicine we have is extraordinary in the narrow place it belongs — the acute rescue, the trauma, the broken bone. I will defend that strip with my life. Outside it, for most of what makes people suffer for years, the body was never given its substrate back, and then it was told it was permanently broken.
